以挑战传统作品，并以前卫风格视觉形象闻名的女神卡卡（Lady Gaga），出道后一直受到推崇，除了为当今乐坛带来正面冲击外，她长期为弱势群体发声一事，也令各界津津乐道。

女神卡卡2006年2月11日以单曲方式发行的这首《Born This Way》，是她受到1990年代女性与同志群体的强力音乐风格影响，她把这首作品称为自己的“自由之歌”。
 

一如歌名，这首歌谈论了少数群体要有自信去面对生活，每一个人天生如此，不要在意世俗的恶意打击。这首节奏强而有力的作品推出后，受到乐词评人好评，也被歌迷追捧为“神曲”甚至“圣歌”。

《Born This Way》也在超过25个国家的歌曲排行榜上夺冠，其中还成了美国“告示牌”建立百强单曲榜以来的第1000支冠军单曲。至于单曲专辑更获得1000万销售量，是世界畅销单曲之一。

《Born This Way》也收录在女神卡卡同年5月23日推出的第二张个人专辑中。
